The rangers of the German Ranger Association (Bundesverband Naturwacht) were unfortunately unable to meet in person this year because of the pandemic. The association therefore organised a webinar at which not only the association’s business was discussed. Three speakers also reported on their everyday life in times of Covid and on the conflicts. More than 100 rangers participated in the event on 27 March.

Dr Ulrike Garbe kicked off a series of further training courses on the topic of “Rangers in the field of tension in a changing society”. She is a conflict mediator and showed the mechanisms of conflicts and where the rangers can take action here.

Achim Laber is a ranger on the Feldberg in the Black Forest. He reported on the great challenge, as many more visitors flocked to his area during the pandemic. Urs Wegmann brought his greetings as President of the ERF and showed that the pandemic can also be an chance for rangers. Especially in Central Europe, the demand for ranger services has increased and the appreciation of the local nature has gained a higher value.
