March has been quite busy with trainings and meetings for us as well as for many of the European rangers: It started with an instructive and exciting drone training for 10 rangers from all over Europe and Israel by Andalusia’s rangers in Seville, shortly after the Swiss and Germany’s rangers gathered for a joint annual meeting.

And while a part of us with 15 rangers from eight countries was in the north of Denmark at the Nature Interpretation with the Danish rangers, the board members met in the Black Forest for the strategy meeting. One result: our previous Treasurer João Correia has, to our great regret, left office after years of great work. Michael Großmann, highly experienced in fundraising and financial support, will continue as Financial Officer for the greatest possible support of Europe’s rangers. He will be replaced as Training Officer by Borja Díaz, who has already supported and developed many successful trainings, most recently also at European level. We are very happy to have him and his expertise on board!

Also: We talked to the ranger associations of Romania and Croatia about the situation, challenges and successes of the rangers there, are happy about the new Vjosa National Park in Albania, where nevertheless a lot of work remains for rangers and conservationists against huge construction projects in most sensitive nature reserves. Our president Urs Reif shows in a video for Islands ranger where Europe’s rangers stand and we show you an interesting learning platform for nature conservation.
