We want to involve you to an initiative by the Thin Green Line Foundation (TGLF) and us, the ERF, which addresses an especially tragic aspect of the ranger’s job: Rangers who lose their lives, e. g. fighting forest fires.

Read what Sean Willmore, Director of the TGLF, and Michael Großmann, Treasurer of the ERF, write about their initiative:

Very soon, more than 260 rangers from over 30 countries will gather in Romania for the 6th European Ranger Congress. These figures show that Europe’s Ranger Family sticks together in difficult times. They meet to learn, exchange ideas and network.

At the same time, it is important to remember Fallen Rangers. Unfortunately, we have received some alarming news. We see how incredibly dangerous fighting large fires can be, for example. In the run-up to the Congress, we ask Europe’s rangers to share this appeal for donations with their colleagues, families and friends.

There are also many countries in Europe with low average incomes, so assistance from ranger to ranger is an important sign of solidarity.

The donations collected will be used to provide support for the bereaved. By sharing this initiative via email, social media or direct contact in our personal circles, we can make an effective contribution.

For short messages you can use this sentence:

The European Ranger Federation will reach out to our members and networks to help The Thin Green Line Foundation to support a number of families of Fallen Rangers recently lost in the line of duty in Europe. Our heart goes out to these families as it does to all rangers lost.
