Ofir Bruckenstein, regional ranger of the western Negev region in Israel, shows in our ranger video number 4 how he is also caught between the conflicting priorities of human utilisation and nature conservation.

His area of open landscapes is home to a very special flora and fauna. The Dorcas gazelle, for example, is an endangered species that requires special protection from rangers like Ofir Bruckenstein. It is also home to vegetation that needs precisely this habitat of open plains.

Major goal unites rangers across borders: preserving our remaining natural treasures

It shows once again that as unique as the habitats are that rangers from different countries protect, they are united by one major goal: to preserve our remaining natural treasures in harmony with the people living in, around and with them.
